We do NOT adopt to homes in Southern California or out of state with the exception of the Reno/Tahoe area. Please see our Resources page for other California Labrador Retriever rescues.We update the list of available dogs as adoptions occur and as new dogs arrive, so please keep checking for the latest information. All dogs listed below are still available unless otherwise noted. If you would like to adopt from CCLRR, please go to the Adopt page to read about our adoption process. All dogs are tested prior to entering our program, however you will want to introduce your dog before adopting. Shelters do not test with cats and not all foster homes have cats so if a bio does not specifically say "Cat Friendly," we do not know and a proper introduction is recommended. Please check our Courtesy Postings as well!

From Mexicali, Mexico

Meet Rocky. In spite of Rocky’s rough start, he is a happy, affectionate boy with the best full-body wiggles and joyful zoomies! Rocky started life in Mexicali, Mexico where he was fighting hard for his second chance. He spent several weeks in Tijuana receiving treatment for a Canine Coronavirus, slowly gaining strength and much-needed weight. Thanks to good care and a lot of heart, Rocky made his way to us where he finally knows what it’s like to be truly safe and loved.

This fun-loving guy is ready to find his forever home—with another playful dog to keep him company. Having a canine buddy helps Rocky thrive and brings out his best self. Rocky sleeps in his crate at night, knows sit and stay, rides great in the car and has no food aggression.

Rocky is a sweet, joyful dog who shows his excitement through prancing, zoomies, and tail-wagging wiggles. He loves his toys and enjoys playing with his foster sibling labs. As he continues to recover, his energy is returning—but he also loves cuddling and relaxing with his people.

He can be a bit mouthy when he gets excited, so a home with older kids would be best. Overall, Rocky is a loving, fun companion who would do wonderfully in an active home that also values downtime, especially one with another dog ready to play.

Maya loves romping with her foster dog siblings, but she’s also great at entertaining herself with toys and chews. At the end of the day, she settles quickly in her crate and sleeps through the night like a champ. She’s well on her way with house training and keeps getting better every day. Bud is the sweetest, smartest boy with a heart as big as his puppy smile. He’s a happy, social, fun-loving pup who wakes up excited for life and ready to learn. Bud is affectionate, cuddly, and loves being with his people — the kind of puppy who makes you feel instantly chosen.

He’s doing great with potty training and already knows to head toward the door when he needs to go out. He’s also comfortable in his crate and settling nicely into a routine. Bud’s favorite things are toys of all kinds (especially tennis balls), chewing on rubber/Kong-style toys, cozy naps with blankets and all the love and snuggles he can get.

Puppy reality check:

Bud is still a puppy, which means continued training, consistency, and a little patience during the teething phase — but his sweet nature and smarts make him a joy to teach. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, well-started puppy to grow up with, Bud might be your perfect match.
