We do NOT adopt to homes in Southern California or out of state with the exception of the Reno/Tahoe area. Please see our Resources page for other California Labrador Retriever rescues. We update the list of available dogs as adoptions occur and as new dogs arrive, so please keep checking for the latest information. All dogs listed below are still available unless otherwise noted. If you would like to adopt from CCLRR, please go to the Adopt page to read about our adoption process. All dogs are tested prior to entering our program, however you will want to introduce your dog before adopting. Shelters do not test with cats and not all foster homes have cats so if a bio does not specifically say "Cat Friendly," we do not know and a proper introduction is recommended. Please check our Courtesy Postings as well!

Marley
Male Chocolate Lab
2.5 Years
🚽 Housebroken
🏡 Crate Trained
🐕 Good with other Dogs
🐱Cats Unknown
👧 Kids Unknown

Marley is a gorgeous chocolate lab with stunning golden eyes.
He knows basic commands, loves to ride in the car and get pup cups from Dutch Brothers. He doesn't counter surf or steal from tables and he rarely barks except when he wants your attention. He's curious with small animals and tries to "play", but forgets he's a big boy.
He has wonderful energy and enthusiastically chases balls and frisbees. He would thrive with an active family who enjoys walks, playtime, and including their pup in daily life.
When it’s time to wind down, he transforms into the sweetest snuggle buddy. He’ll curl up at your feet — but his favorite thing is when someone joins him on the floor so he can rest his head on your leg.
He has so much love to give and is ready for his fresh start with a family who will adore his affectionate, gentle spirit. If you’re looking for a handsome, sweet, devoted companion ready to give you his whole heart, Marley can’t wait to meet you!

Harlow
Female Black Lab
1.5 Years
🚽 Housebroken
🏡 Crate Training In Progress
🐕 Only Pet In Home
🐱 NO Cats
👧 Best with Older Kids
From Merced County Shelter

Harlow is a fun, loving, and very smart young pup who is ready to shine in a home that can offer structure, consistency, and continued training. In just one week in foster care, she has made incredible progress — mastering potty training, down, place, and touch, and actively working on heel, come, “look at me,” and crate training. She absolutely loves learning and thrives with positive reinforcement — especially when food is involved! Harlow’s favorite things include peanut butter, carrots, frozen applesauce popsicles, and honestly… probably anything edible.
Once she’s had a good play session (fetch is a favorite!), Harlow is happy to settle in and relax at your feet, soaking up the sunshine and your company. She is affectionate, people-loving, and very eager to bond with her humans.
Harlow did not appear to have much guidance early in life, but she has shown just how resilient and capable she is with a little patience and leadership. She is still very much a puppy and can be mouthy during play, so a home with older kids only is best. She will also need to be the only pet in the home.
Ideal Home
Harlow will do best with adopters who:
• Enjoy training and mental enrichment
• Can provide routine and structure
• Want a smart, loyal, food-motivated Labrador-type companion
• Are looking for a one-and-only dog to pour their love into

Waffles
Female
Central Asian Shepherd
6 Months
🚽 Housebroken
🏡 Crate Trained
🐕 Good with Dogs
🐱Good with Cats
👧 Kids unknown

Meet Waffles (formerly Yeti), a purebred Central Asian Shepherd. She is approximately 75 pounds.
Waffles is a stunning young girl with an incredibly loving, gentle soul. She came to us at just 4 months old looking like a big ol’ Lab puppy and was believed to be a Lab/guardian mix. She was adopted quickly by a family who truly fell in love with her. However, when her DNA results came back showing she is a pure Central Asian Shepherd, they realized they weren’t prepared for the unique needs of a true livestock guardian breed and made the difficult decision to return her.
Waffles is a gentle giant in the making who would thrive with a family looking for an LGD so she can fulfill her natural instincts—guarding property, livestock, and her people. Despite her guardian heritage, she is incredibly sweet with everyone she meets and will happily melt into belly rubs and affection.
She does well with other dogs and was great with her foster’s cats—often trying to cozy up to them or entice them to play. She is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash, making her a great candidate for continued training and structure. Like any 6-month-old puppy, she is still learning and will test boundaries, so she needs a dog-savvy home that understands large guardian breeds and is committed to her ongoing development.
Waffles is truly special and will be an amazing addition to the right home that appreciates her breed, size, and loyal heart. Her foster loves her and says she’s something special. If you’re looking for a devoted guardian with a soft, loving side, Waffles may be your girl.

Lab Mix Puppies
Now Taking Applications
Dad: Chocolate Lab/ Mom: Pic Below

MOM
These sweet scruffy pups are now in rescue and we can start taking adoption applications!
There are 2 males and 2 females, sweet as can be.
The father is a chocolate lab and the mother is pictured above.
They are puppies who know nothing so make sure you are ready for all the puppy things - Pee, poop, biting, chewing, whining, crying and lots of snuggles! ❤️
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING:
-
Adopters must be local - within 1-2 hours of Sacramento as these guys will need additional vet appointments and spay/neuter which is included in the adoption fee.
-
You must have a 6ft fence and secure yards
-
You must not be gone all day - I know we get a lot of feedback about being able to work a full time job and have a puppy - we get it. IF you work and you have a solid plan, put it in your application. Otherwise, we’re sorry a puppy just can’t be properly socialized and develop into a secure, confident dog being alone for 9-10 hours a day and your current dog can’t raise and socialize your puppy. It’s a bonus, but it’s not the solution.
WHAT’S THE ADOPTION FEE? WHATS INCLUDED?

Meet Miss Daisy (aka Daisy Mae). Who needs a dollop when you can have a Daisy Mae in your life every single day? This gorgeous girl is equal parts sweet, smart, loving, and FUN—and let’s not forget stunning. Her gentle eyes will absolutely melt your heart, and she is the definition of a love bug.
Daisy’s favorite thing in the world? Settling in between your legs for all the neck and chest rubs you’ll give. You can literally feel her relax and melt into you.
Despite arriving in foster care with kennel cough, Daisy has been an absolute champ—taking her meds like a pro and handling vet visits with grace. She rides well in the truck and is working on hopping in and out on her own. While she hasn’t been fully dog-tested yet, she’s done well calmly observing her foster brother and doesn’t bark at him.
Daisy is a total Lab at heart—super treat-motivated and eager to learn! She knows several basic commands, walks nicely on a loose leash, and if you stop, she’ll happily come back and sit. Sniffaris are one of her favorite activities. Though she’s not a puppy, she has a playful, adolescent personality and can get a little mouthy or jumpy when excited—something she’s actively working on with training and positive redirection.
At home, Daisy is all about the good life
🎾 LOVES fetch (football or Chuckit balls are her jam)
🦴 Big fan of Benebones (leashes beware!)
🛏️ Sleeps best on her dog bed—or cozied up between your legs
📺 Watches TV with adorable head tilts
🧸 Adore squeaky and chew toys
🐿️ Not a fan of squirrels (they are very suspicious)
She’s fully potty trained with zero accidents, crate trained (goes right in with a treat and “inside”), and thrives on praise—being called a “good girl” is basically her love language. Daisy will shine in a loving, active home that’s ready for cuddles, playtime, continued training, and lots of laughs. She has so much love to give and can’t wait to share it with her forever family. Miss Daisy is ready to bloom in her forever home.

Meet Rex — a big, gentle sweetheart and truly a dream dog. This medium-energy senior boy loves his people and is the definition of a perfect house guest. Rex is kind, calm, considerate, and wonderfully easy to live with. He is fully crate trained and housebroken (not a single accident!), walks politely on leash, and has excellent manners in the home.
Rex knows all the basics — sit, down, wait, stay, come/heel, and even “give” when playing fetch (which he loves!). He came to CCLRR from the Kern County Shelter and even flew on an airplane to Northern California with six other dogs, proving he does great with canine companions and new experiences.
Despite battling kennel cough, pneumonia, and multiple medications (including sub-Q fluids), Rex has kept his sparkle, wagging tail, and positive spirit. He has shown zero issues with food, toys, or loud noises — just a happy, resilient boy who’s ready for his forever home.
Rex enjoys car rides, visitors, play sessions, bird and squirrel watching, short neighborhood walks, belly rubs, couch cuddles, and lounging at your feet. He especially loves homemade roasted chicken. Rex will thrive in a loving home that includes him as part of the family — he truly is the best-est boy.

Meet Pixley — the definition of an easygoing, sweet soul. This gentle guy is calm, affectionate, and wonderfully adaptable in the home. Pixley is great with kids and other dogs and has spent his entire life living with another dog, so he’d likely thrive in a home with a canine companion or with someone who’s home a lot.
Pixley is quiet indoors and happy after a nice walk. He loves to follow his person from room to room, settling nearby just to be close. He’s been playful with his foster’s other dog and does great with kids under 11. He enjoys retrieving a ball, walks nicely on leash, and is working on crate training — though he’d much rather snooze on a cozy dog bed in whatever room you’re in.
Pixley already knows sit and drop it, is fully housebroken, and is the kind of dog who effortlessly fits into family life. If you’re looking for a loyal, calm companion with a big heart, Pixley might just be your perfect match.
