Bay Area south to Monterey County.  No Southern California or out of state adoptions with the exception of the Reno-Tahoe area.  Please see the other rescues listed on the Resources page if you are out of our area.

Adoption Process

New dogs will be posted on website/Facebook/Instagram as they become available.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs reach out to the foster listed in the bio. Our foster will let you know if your home may be a good fit. They will then ask you to submit an Adoption Application. We require a yard check.  After application submittal, review and yard check a meet and greet will be set up if the foster continues to feel you’re a good fit.  After the meet and greet both parties must agree the adoption is a good fit in order for the adoption to be completed.

Payment is required before the adoption takes place.  You can pay the adoption fee above by clicking on PayPal adoption fee link. Please send copy of receipt to the foster. If needed you can pay by check. Make payable to CCLRR and mail to CCLRR PO Box 2912 Fair Oaks Ca 95628.

You will have a two-week trial period to ensure that the dog is a good fit for your home.

Considering Adopting a Puppy? Please Read.

Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding for care and attention, can't be left alone much, cries a lot -- especially at night when you want to sleep. Eat, poop/pee, play, sleep... repeat, repeat, repeat. Puppy raising is also filled with joy and fun. Young puppies have sharp teeth and tend to go for human toes when available.

We envision the adopters will need:

  • To be home most (if not all the time)

  • Have a home with a backyard

  • Be fully aware of what puppy care is all about, not for those who are not ready to fully commit to puppy care

  • Need to have a plan for puppy training and socialization with other puppies

  • Prior young dog experience is not required but preferable

  • No other dogs in the home under two years old, please

  • Cats okay

Several puppy handouts from Marin Humane are fabulous reads:

Adoption Fees

Adult Dog (1 to 9 years old): $450.00

Puppies (1 year and under): $550.00

Senior Dogs (9 years and up) and “Special Needs” Dogs: $350.00

Bonded Pair: $350.00

Adoption fees are applied to the costs incurred by CCLRR to ensure that our dogs are in the best possible health prior to being adopted.  All dogs receive medical exams, vaccinations, fecal and heartworm tests and are spayed or neutered and microchipped.

In some cases, our dogs must also undergo major surgeries to repair broken bones, torn ligaments, etc., which cost our organization thousands of dollars.
