Success Stories
Enjoy some stories of our success!
Casey
Six years and five days ago, Casey agreed to leave the excellent foster care of Cathy Chance (having done the same earlier with Tracy Hinck), to move to the Castro Valley home for wayward Labs! She's obviously slowed down a bit. Sleeping hours have increased from 16 to 18 hours a day (getting up to follow Patty around is hard work!), and she's pushing 14. Still has the big Lab appetite and, although she's almost totally deaf, comes out of the deepest sleep when the treat jar opens! Picture is one Patty posted of Casey, Bama and Annie (who Casey insists "She is NOT my puppy!") on National Dog Day in August!

Kobe
Kobe aka “Potato”, “The Waffler”, “Kobe-bobe”, and “Kobes” is enjoying everything in his world. One of his favorite things to do in the morning is telling the kids, it’s time for school so he can walk them by “talking” to them when he’s ready to go. He loves to eat, walk to the lake, swim, play, eat, ride in the car, watch soccer practice, eat, sleep, all the kids, and be with our family. His favorite snacks are strawberries, apples, and blueberries. He’s never turned down a piece of tritip (occasional treat) but will spit out all the bell peppers. His counter surfing has scored him the occasional waffle, French toast, and banana bread as well. He eats well and never misses a meal. His calm demeanor is a perfect match for our house and we love him so much. He’s helped us all to slow down, be present, and to be thankful for everything that comes our way. When any of us are having a rough day, he has a way of helping us move on. We’re beyond grateful for the rescue and the foster family that had him and couldn’t picture life without him.

Rhett
Here is a follow up success story for the big red fox boy originally named Clifford. Rhett came to me with his only way to communicate was with growlies and didn’t wag his tail or take a treat. I fostered him for 7 months and he learned to wag his tail and be a happy dog. His adopter, a Judge in Roseville, wanted him on first sight. He dresses him up for holidays and sends me pics. I loved him so much, I’ve dog sat for him. He is soo happy with his Daddy and is continuing to lose weight after going on thyroid meds with me. Truly a Labbie success story.

Ruby (aka Stevie CCLRR alumni) was featured in this article in Style magazine. She was adopted in January of 2024 and was fostered by Karen Spillard. It reads: "Ruby (orange eyes) is a Lab rescue and Holly is a great Dane mix rescue. They love to cuddle (when they aren't playing and being silly). Ruby loves to counter surf looking for human food while Holly is more of a garbage searcher. We have our hands full between these two love bugs!" - Jen Freeman

Waffles

Cathy & Loralyn, I know it's been a while but here's a recent picture of Waffles. He has turned out to be a wonderful dog. He is now a seasoned traveler (we went to Tennesse and back earlier this year and he loved it) and he's a really good swimmer (I wanted to send a video of him swimming, but they turned out horrible). He loves kids and is great with other dogs. He has made my wife and I very happy and filled that hole in our hearts we had after we lost Kinsey & Logan.
Thank you again for all that you folks do @ CCLRR.
Take care, Larry

Remi
We would like to say a huge thank you to Central California Lab Rescue! After years of wanting a dog, but not having room, our family moved to the country. Remi entered our lives on Christmas morning, and our family instantly fell in love.
When Remi was about five months old we took her to a trainer. During the training Remi was stolen. We were heart broken. We searched high and low for her but she had disappeared without a trace.
After a year we had all but given up. In fact, we had another black lab and a blue heeler join our family. Paul, a family friend, who has Remi’s mother and sister, didn’t give up. One day he saw a picture of Remi on the Central California Lab Rescue website.
At first we were skeptical, it had been a little over a year. However, Paul swore up and down it was her. The comparison pictures looked uncanny, but Remi had the slightest bit of white fur on her back right paw… and so did this dog.
We drove to Davis to see her at the foster home, and it was love at first sight all over again. And just like that, Remi was back in our lives. We believe that whoever stole Remi bred her, sold the pups, and then dumped her.
Remi received the absolute best care when she was with Central California Lab Rescue. The adoption process was thorough and efficient. Cathy was a great communicator, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about her rescues.
Remi is happy to be home, and our family is whole again. We now call our little homestead ‘Three Dog Ranch’!
Thank you Central California Lab Rescue!
